Our documentary aims to explore the pioneering efforts to understand and resolve human-elephant conflicts through advanced scientific research. By leveraging cutting-edge technology to monitor and analyze elephant behavior and biological signals, the project seeks to provide crucial insights for conservation efforts in high-risk areas such as Ghana and India. This initiative, involving collaboration with government leaders and local communities, is a historic step toward creating sustainable environments for elephants. The significance of this project lies in its potential to revolutionize wildlife conservation, using technology to gain a deeper understanding of wildlife behavior. Ultimately, this groundbreaking work aims to protect both wildlife and human lives, ensuring a safer and more harmonious coexistence.

Elephant Conservation

Goal
The project aims to provide new insights into the environmental factors affecting elephant behavior and migration. These insights will help minimize human-elephant conflicts, preserving the lives of both elephants and humans.

Collaboration
Team members are forming relationships with government leaders in Ghana and India, some of the world’s most at-risk areas.

Human-Elephant Conflict

Generational Problem
Communities have faced human-elephant conflict for generations and need scientific data to create sustainable environments for elephants.

Comprehensive Data Collection
Includes position tracking (GPS/optical), motion/kinetics monitoring (accelerometer/hyrometer), underground water sensing (ultrasound), elephant communications (sound/infrasound), heart rate (EMG/ECG), brain pulse oximetry (EEG), and hormone levels (wearable biomarker).

Long-term Goals
To pass on discoveries and data to elephant minders, governments, and advocacy groups for further education and implementation of strategic changes for elephant welfare.

The Research Project

Continuous Monitoring
Biological signals from the elephants will be continuously streamed and available on a smartphone app for scientists, animal care specialists, and subscribers.

Technology

  • Existing Technologies: Uses mature technologies for monitoring heart, lungs, body temperature, cortisol, etc.
  • Innovative EEG Data: Sensor chip technology will record EEG data, which can be correlated with other biological signals to enhance and potentially replace traditional monitoring methods.

Non-invasive Methods
After prototype testing, a non-invasive subdermal capsule will be used, which can be implanted under the first layer of skin or applied on top of the skin.

Benefits of Science

Clean Data Collection
For the first time, it’s possible to collect clean, usable brain and biological signals from wild animals, removing all noise and artifacts.

Applications

  • Wildlife Conservation: These techniques and technologies can benefit a wide range of use cases in wildlife conservation.
  • Awareness: Portable app developments will be accessible to conservationists and zoo patrons, increasing awareness of animal needs and struggles.

Concept

Threats to Elephants
Elephant populations are threatened worldwide due to habitat conflicts and human exploitation, affecting both humans and elephants.

Partnerships
“Studios” is partnering with elephant experts, scientists, engineers, and community leaders using modern, field-proven technology to support human-elephant cohabitation.

Data and Research
The gathered data will provide unique insights into elephant behavior and motivations, aiding conservation projects in regions like Ghana and Bengal.

TV Opportunities

Historic Moment
Recording biological signals from wild elephants will be a historic achievement.

Experienced Team
The team includes individuals with successful records in major formats and big studios. The TV format is modeled after successful drama systems.
